Easter is just around the corner!

Easter is just around the corner, and we've put together some fresh spring looks that we can't wait to share!

If you’re looking for a more easy-going ensemble, try a skirt and blouse like this yellow top with ruffle collar from our junior line and this white pencil skirt by Milly.

Here is the Wellesley dress by Trina Turk paired with a green tie front cardigan from our junior line. With some artful twisting and tucking, the cardigan transforms into a fitted shrug—perfect for covering the shoulders without obscuring the line of the dress.

The soft, sheer ruffles of this one-shoulder top from our junior line look great with a sleek pencil skirt like Nanette Lepore’s High Style skirt. We’ve added a splash of color and pulled the look together with a wide stretch belt

There are lots of beautiful strapless dresses available this spring, but for some occasions (especially Easter) you may want to be a little more covered up. When choosing a shrug or cardigan to go over a dress, make sure it’s one that enhances the look of the dress rather than taking away from it. We think our white crochet shrug is a perfect match for the Ania dress by Sweetees.

The Larkspur sheath in Seafoam by Nanette Lepore is a beautiful standalone piece. Perfect for an Easter celebration, this dress would also be beautiful for spring and summer weddings.

Also by Nanette Lepore, the In the Wild dress in Seafoam has a unique faux-wrap style with pleat detail in the front. The rich silk/linen fabric content makes this dress appropriate for dressing up or dressing down.

Our favorite dresses for Carolina Cup!

Carolina Cup is coming soon... next weekend, in fact. Do you have your dress yet? If not, we've got some great choices for you here at McAuley's, and we can help you with your shoes, bag, and other acessories as well! Here we've chosen a few of our favorites to give you an idea of what our selection is like. Keep in mind that this isn't all we have to offer, and don't forget that we register every girl for each event, so you won't see anyone else in your dress!

You'll look simply smashing in hot pink strapless dress by Molly B. Pair it with some bold, colorful accessories and you’re off to the races! Also pictured is the Willy shoe in gold by Sergio Zelcer.

We know you’ll turn some heads in this short strapless number from our junior line. This dress looks great with chunky beads and high heels for a spring event or with a pair of flip flops and a large canvas tote for a day at the beach.

With clean lines, a classic nautical color scheme, and crisp pique fabric, the Seagull dress by Trina Turk is the perfect look for the sophisticated lady this spring. For a dress like this, we recommend keeping the accessories simple—a pair of elegant chandelier earrings is all you need.

A simple, great fitting shift is appropriate for almost any event. We especially like the Nice Girl dress by Nanette Lepore because it has an adorable bow detail and it’s in one of the hottest colors of the season—yellow!

Too cute! This green and yellow embroidered dress from our junior line is one of our favorites this season. From its narrow embellished straps to its lightweight gathered skirt, this dress is sure to keep you fresh as a daisy.

Leighton Meester in Nanette Lepore!

On last night's episode of "Gossip Girl," Leighton Meester was wearing the Black Tie Blouse by Nanette Lepore in white. We've got one left in the store a size 6 in shocking pink!

Here's ours, styled with the high style skirt, also by Nanette Lepore.

Take a long look...

You'll be seeing a lot more of the maxi in months to come! Finally, the days when the mini dress ruled are behind us, and those of us who feel like we have something to hide have something cute to cover ourselves with! You don't have to be 5'10" and stick thin to wear long dresses, I promise. If you've got bigger legs or a little bit of a tummy, choose strapless or halter styles to highlight your shoulders and draw attention away from your trouble spots. I personally have always been a little hesitant to wear dresses.... largely because I'm self conscious about my legs, so I'm pretty excited that the maxi trend is set to last another summer. Sure, a lot of you petite girls out there probably think this is one trend you can't pull off, but you're wrong. Shorter celebs like Kelly Ripa, Hayden Panetierre, and Eva Longoria Parker have been wearing maxi dresses for the last couple of years, and they make them look great! Below, you can see these three wearing Sweetees styles from last summer...

The maxi dress has long been associated with a carefree bohemian lifestyle, and while a long dress can easily be dressed up for a night out, it's also perfect for a walk on the beach or a comfy day of shopping. Who cares if the bottom gets a little dirty?
Below are some of my personal favorites from our latest arrivals: the Cactus dress by Sweetees followed by the Biscayne dress by Trina Turk, both of which can already been found on our website at http://www.shopmcauleys.com/.
Here are two more that just came in earlier this week, but will be online by tomorrow. On the left is Eva Franco's Celeste dress, and on the right is a multi printed dress by Envi. And remember, most of our newer styles are availabel for special order if we happen to be out of your size! Just email or call us to inquire.
That's all for now, but there will be another post later this week. Have a great day everyone!

McAuley's Spring Break Essentials

I know many of you are looking forward to that long awaited break from the days of 8am classes and all-night cram sessions, so I thought you might appreciate a reminder of things you may not have remembered you needed for your trip. If nothing else, it might help brighten your Monday morning and give you a reason to get through this week of classes without skipping. Of course, whether you're about to head off for spring break, or your school days are far behind you, these essentials will get you through the warmer months looking and feeling great!

#1 Dance in Paris Tanks : It seems like seamless tanks are suddenly popping up everywhere, though we've had them for years. Our favorites are the ones by Dance in Paris, and why shouldn't they be? With so many shades of pink, purple, blue, green, and yellow, there's really no worry that you don't have a tank to go with everything. We're always finding out about new colors, so our stock is constantly expanding. Also, Dance in Paris makes their tanks longer than many of their competitors, so you don't have to worry about your tank riding up to become a belly shirt. And a Dance in Paris tank can last a long time. Those of us who are a little more self conscious about our bodies like to wear our tanks under just about everything all year long to smooth our little lumps and bumps. Sure, they don't do quite the same job as a Yummie Tummie, but they're comfy and cooler than anything that's actually intended to slim you.

#2 Casual Dresses: If you're going out of town, you'll need something in your suitcase that's easy and wrinkle free. Don't bother packing an iron, just pack some of these and hang them on the door while you're in the shower. The steam will smooth the wrinkles out without any work on your part. Or, if you pack in a hurry and end up with more stubborn wrinkles, a little bit of Downy Wrinkle Releaser works wonders.

Seen below, the Envi belted tunnel dress, Michael Stars Empire Strapless dress in canary, and the Sky Swon Crochet dress. The Michael Stars dress is also available in pink! Try wearing it alone with flip flops for a more relaxed look.

Day Dresses at McAuley's

You know we love maxi dresses for spring, so here we've featured the Gabrielle dress by Sweeetees, as well as an Envi style in a beautiful blue print. In the middle is one of our latest arrivals from our junior line - a brown printed bubble dress.

#3 White Denim: Maybe it's not for everyone, but if you've got the confidence you can pull it off. White denim is going to be hot this spring and summer, and this Citizens of Humanity Hutton High Rise jean has a flattering silhouette that can make white work for you! And guess what? We've only had them for a week, so we still have a great selection of sizes!

#4 Michael Stars Tops: With a new shipment of Michael Stars in the past week, we're showcasing the widest possible assortment of colors and styles! Shades like peony, sultana, and inca remind us of a beach sunset, which only makes us more jealous of you girls getting ready for your spring getaways! The best part is that we've already got them all up on the website!

#5 Fashion Tape: Necklines are starting to plunge, and clothes are getting more revealing. Like it or not, it's just one of those things that comes along with warmer weather. This being the case, I thought I should remind you about a fabulous product we started carrying during the fall - Pure Style Girlfriends Stay Put Double Sided Fashion Tape. We still love Hollywood Fashion Tape for things like closing that cap between the buttons of your favorite blouse, but sometimes you need something a little stronger. When it comes to attaching your clothing to your skin, you need Pure Style Girlfriends. It'll keep your top where it belongs to keep you from one of those embarrassing moments no one wants. For low, drapey backs on tops and dreses, it can even keep you from the possibility of someone seeing too much of your backside! Visit our store or website for additional products from Pure Styles Girlfriends.

That's all for now... There are so many more, like sunglasses, a brightly colored bag that holds everything, a great cocktail dress if you're going on a cruise, but you get the idea. Just remember - Spring Break should NOT be a break from looking fabulous! :)

I enjoy being a girl

Thank goodness feminine details have made a resurgence in fashion over the last couple of seasons. Although we love that cool, very chic, sort of androgynous look for certain occasions, it's also fun to be girly! And girly is definitely in for spring and summer.

One type of ultra-feminine detail that we're absolutely in love with right now is ruffles. Whether they're adorning the neckline, the hemline, the sleeve or the bodice, ruffles add a special touch to any garment. I think some of us, myself included, tend to shy away from girly details like ruffles because we're afraid of looking too frilly or silly. But when used properly (and in moderation) ruffles project a flirty, arty edge that's really quite sophisticated. Here are a few examples of ruffles done right.
