Clemson University Welcome Back Festival

Fashionable and Festive!!!

Hey hey fashion fans,

McAuley's has been hustling and bustling lately to prepare for the upcoming fall semester (and the subsequential influx of student shoppers!). This past Monday, we participated in the Clemson University Welcome Back Festival. In my slightly biased opinion, our zebra printed tablecloth lined with orange feathers was the sassiest display on College Avenue!! On our table, we had jewelry and scarves in Clemson colors to showcase the style of our store. We also gave away McAuley's coozies, so all you Clemson gals can tailgate in fashion!!

Thank you to all the stylish ladies who stopped by our table-it was great speaking to you!! If you weren't able to make it to the festival, you still have time to get one of those adorable coozies. We're giving one away with each purchase while supplies last!

Hope to see you soon!! Good luck this semester!!

Photo Shoot Fun!!

Hey everybody!

If you've visited the website in the past few days, you've definitely noticed some fabulous new photos of our latest fall merchandise. Well, let me tell you, a lot of hard work went into these gorgeous pictures! Jake Simpson, our super cool and skillful photographer, worked with us to create a 1960's Meets Modern Day photo shoot...think Jackie O with a hint of Scarlett Johansson.

We started the day at Jared Lloyd Hair Studio, where Jared himself styled all three of our models. Mikal definitely had the most outrageous hair when she walked out with a rockin' beehive!! When we left the salon, we immediately went on location to a gorgeous mansion here in Anderson, South Carolina. The home was built in the late 1800's and has not lost one bit of its charm in over 100 years. From there, we just got to work taking some incredible shots (for your viewing pleasure of course!)!

Here are a few behind-the-scenes pictures so you can see the method behind the madness! Enjoy!!

xoxo,
Hayley

August Rush...

isn't just a movie! As all you Greek gals know, the beginning of fall semester means one thing-RUSH! It's a hectic period with only one goal-to find your future panhellenic sisters. During this time, it is very important that you match your appearance with the impression you would like others to have of you. If you're a girly girl, wear pink! If you're an environmentalist, wear something earthy! In order to make the perfect match, it is crucial that your potential sisters know the real you. Also, dressing in the perfect outfit will give you the confidence to shine like a star and light up any room! As nerve wracking as this time can be, it will all seem worthwhile when you find your home for the next four years. Here at McAuley's we have a bevy of current and past sorority girls, so come in if you have fashion questions about any rush events. We've gotten in a ton of great clothes that are perfect for all you future Kappas, Zetas, Tri Delts, etc....Go ahead and get that bid girl!

Hales

Fashion Fix for the Fall Semester!

Hey there all you McAuley Girls!

So, it's about that time again...Time to dust off that backpack and get to work!! (Or at least give your parents the impression...) When I go out in college towns, I am so impressed by how adorable the young ladies look for a night with friends...so why is it that they take no time to look nice for classes the next day?? I totally understand not having time for makeup or hair, but is the baggy old t-shirt and gym shorts look necessary?? A cute par of jeans and a FITTED tank or top is just as easy to throw on, and gives off a much more dignified impression. You may think it sounds crazy, but believe me your professors and fellow students will notice. Need an extension on that art history paper? Looking like a disheveled mess will certainly not help your case! Casual tops and great jeans will give you the relaxed and self-assured look all MGs (McAuley Girls) deserve. Come down to the store and we'll have you styled for school in no time!

love always,
Hayley

Today Show - Dancing Wedding Party

I'm sure most of you have already seen the video of the dancing wedding party, but this morning on The Today Show, I noticed that the bride was wearing Free People's Aletha Tube Dress. Even though we've sold out of it, I figured it was a good enough excuse to post the video. :) If you haven't seen it yet, enjoy!

'Tis the season...

FOR WEDDINGS!

Hey girls! So, as I'm sure you've all noticed, wedding invitations have been arriving almost as often as those McAuley's facebook notifications ;) Well, what in the world are you going to wear?! That skimpy little number you wore last night? Negative. Your new pair of 7 for All Mankind jeans? No way. Your favorite white summer dress? Not unless you want the bride to strangle you with her garter. Wedding not-for-the-bridal-party dresses can be a tricky find for the average gal...you have to walk the line between stylish, fun, and above all-tasteful.

Here are a few tips for finding the dress that will prove fashionable and fitting:

1. Avoiding all shades of white/cream is a must. Personally, I try to stay away from black as much as possible-better safe than sorry. The last thing you want to remind a nervous bridegroom of is funerals!
2. Leave the lycra at home. No one wants Peggy Bundy as the guest of honor at their wedding.
3. It's always better to be overdressed, rather than underdressed. If you're worried about the dressiness of the occasion, opt for the more formal look. That way, you'll only improve the scenery!
4. Pay very close attention to the time, date, and location of the nuptials!! There is nothing worse than seeing a beautiful sleeved dress soaked in sweat because someone missed the fact that the wedding was taking place outside at 2:00-in the middle of July!

And lastly...
5. Leave that big bulky purse at home!! Do yourself a favor and invest in a small stylish clutch, preferably in a versatile metallic shade. This will save you and everyone else the embarrassment of whopping people with your purse on the dance floor!

I hope these tips help make your selection easier and improve your wedding guest experience! Weddings are a time of love and laughter (and blissful relief after months of planning), so soak up every second!

And of course, McAuley's is always here to help :)
